PLEASE NOTE: The museum will be closed temporarily for refurbishment from 12 December 2022 to May 2023. Please check their website for updates.

Revolving exhibits celebrate 350 years of cinema and pre-cinema.  “A gem”, say visitors: “It’s well worth visiting the lovely town of Deal just to spend a couple of hours in this museum”.

Kent MOMI is “an Aladdin's cave of intriguing, quirky artefacts charting the development of film and photography from its earliest beginnings”, say visitors, presenting revolving exhibitions that draw on an internationally significant museum collection.  “Inspiring … Creative … Informative … Wonderful!”

Current exhibitions:

“Passport to Ealing: The Films and their Posters, 1938-1958”, a major exhibition of “those marvellous and evocative posters” and insider material about Ealing Studios “that really captures the spirit of the golden era of cinema”.  Continues to early 2022.

On the ground floor, “35,000 Years to Catch a Shadow: A Reflective Exhibition” challenges visitors to explore the phenomenon, arts and technologies of the shadow, from cave painting to cinema.

NEW EXHIBITION: "World War One on Film and in the Media: Art & Authenticity; Representation and Remembrance". Kent MOMI's new exhibition turns up many surprises (e.g. about Chaplin and American 'neutrality' during WWI) and is told through authentic artefacts as well as rare and stunning images.
